Front & York

As Curator for Front & York, a luxury residential development at 85 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn, I commissioned a selection of abstract works to enrich the building’s dual lobbies. Drawing inspiration from the property’s sleek contemporary design by Morris Adjmi Architects, the curated pieces were chosen to seamlessly integrate with the interiors’ aesthetic while enhancing the residents’ experience of artful living.

For this project, I collaborated with two distinctive artists—Irina Alimanestianu and Angel Estevez—whose works bring vibrancy and sophistication to the spaces.

Irina Alimanestianu, an American artist of Romanian descent, contributed colorful abstract compositions that explore the dynamic interplay of connection and transformation. Her work, informed by her global upbringing and education, reflects a sensitivity to cultural intersections and the complexities of human interaction. With pieces held in major collections such as the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary and the Pomona College Museum of Art, Irina’s paintings bring a sense of harmony and introspection to the lobbies of Front & York.

Angel Estevez, a Spanish artist based in Brazil, offered bold, abstract works that resonate with the neighborhood’s creative spirit. Estevez’s background in digital art and his exploration of acrylic and watercolor painting culminate in pieces that exude energy and depth. His ability to merge abstraction with a vivid color palette complements the property’s modern design, infusing the spaces with a dynamic and welcoming atmosphere.

Front & York, developed by CIM Group and LIVWRK, is a masterfully designed residential building surrounding an expansive private park. Located in one of New York City’s most inspiring creative neighborhoods, the property combines contemporary living with transformative amenities, including The Magnolia Club and Life Time™, offering residents a seamless urban resort experience. The commissioned artworks not only enrich the building’s interiors but also reflect its commitment to creating an elevated and holistic living environment.
